The iconic Spiegeltent returns to Brisbane and takes up residence in the Twilight Electric precinct as part of Brisbane Festival’s early event program 2022. The Spiegeltent has a long history with Brisbane Festival as the home of Strut & Fret productions: Feasting on Flesh (2008), A Company of Strangers (2009), Cantina (2010), Dream Menagerie (2011), LIMBO (2013), Blanc de Blanc – original (2016), LIFE – The Show (2018) and 2019, the QLD premiere of
Blanc de Blanc Encore.
The Spiegeltent (Dutch for “Mirrortent”) originated in Belgium during the late nineteenth century.
With their lavishly carved wooden interiors that were covered in mirrors, their stained-glass windows, velvet and brocade upholstered seating booths and their old-style bars, spiegeltents reveal the decadence of an era long gone.
In 2022, we welcome The Victoria Spiegeltent to the banks of the Brisbane river for the ultimate five-star night-out.
Joining The Spiegeltent, and direct from Japan, was Maho Magic Bar, a bespoke Japanese venue and show. Setting the night ablaze like a neon-lit happy snap of Shinjuku, Maho Magic Bar is unmissable. Step inside, and you will find a bespoke and gorgeously refined bar and entertainment space spread across six spacious performance areas. After taking your seat and selecting your drink of choice, consummate master magicians will perform your own exclusive magic show at your table – creating an unforgettable, multi-sensory and interactive experience unlike anything else. With its dazzling bespoke venue, captivating and awe inspiring show, delectable bar offering, and small capacity, Maho Magic Bar is a truly immersive experience . . . and a night out like no other.
